“The impact Paws n Play has had on Blue’s development has been nothing short of remarkable.”

I’ve been a Paws In Play customer for nearly a year now, and I can’t say enough good things about them. My dog Blue started coming here when he was around 5-6 months old, and he’s turning 2 in January. The impact Paws n Play has had on Blue’s development has been nothing short of remarkable.

As a first-time dog owner, I’ve really appreciated the kindness and support of the employees at Paws In Play. They’ve not only been great with Blue but have also provided my family and me with invaluable tips and lessons on how to continue his progress at home. The knowledge and guidance they’ve shared have been a game-changer!!

“Nellie has the BEST time when she comes to daycare at Paws in Play, especially when we’ve included a training session. Zarina is the greatest – she is quickly able to access Nellie’s behavior, areas of improvement, and all that she needs to succeed. I would trust any place Zarina works, and it speaks volumes that she’s been able to help the training program thrive at Paws in Play!”

“With the help of Zarina, at Paws in Play, the barking is so much better! I am now able to bring my dog with me to pick up the kids at school – and she couldn’t before because there was too much activity for her and the barking was so out of control!”

        F.A.Q.s

What is the deadline to sign up for group classes?

Enrollment ends approximately 3 days before dog training classes begin.

These are the deadlines for the latest round of 5-week classes:

For our Tuesday 6pm Beginner Class, enrollment ends April 4th at midnight, EST.

For our Wednesday 6pm Advanced Class, enrollment ends April 14th at midnight, EST.

How long does each group session last?

Each class is 1 hour long. And remember, the class lasts for 5 consecutive weeks.

What time do group classes occur?

The beginner class begins at 6pm on Tuesday nights.  The advanced class begins at 6pm on Wednesday nights.

Is my dog a good fit for group classes?

If your dog is displaying poor behavioral patterns, such as pulling on their leash, nipping or barking consistently, then group training classes should help to alleviate those behaviors.

Additionally, if your dog is well-behaved but you want to confidently take it into more world situations, advanced group trainings are ideal.

Why are group classes only offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays?

One of the most important aspects of group training is fostering a sense of repetition and consistency for dogs and their owners. To meet this expectation, we hold group classes at the same time and day of the week for the five-week session. However, we do our best to ensure that classes are held at a convenient time and in a controlled environment.

Furthermore, with a maximum limit of 10 people per group, it is important as a trainer to build a strong sense of community. Many of the members of my classes have built relationships with other dog owners—I have even had owners schedule play dates and dog park outings amongst themselves!

What is the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification?

Sponsored by the American Kennel Club, the Canine Good Citizen program is designed to train your dog to be polite and well-behaved in social situations. These practical and functional behaviors should be shared by every dog who is taken into the world. Dogs that pass the test are considered by experts and the public to be reliable community members.

Are there benefits to having a CGC-certified dog?

Beyond the knowledge that your dog will react reliably in everyday situations, there are some concrete benefits to having a CGC-certified dog. For example, some landlords may reject your application unless you can demonstrate that your dog meets a standard of community politeness. Additionally, there are insurance companies (such as Liberty Mutual) that will not insure specific breeds without CGC certification—this includes most bully breeds like Bullmastiffs, Bulldogs, Dobermans, Pitbulls, etc.
